The Walk on the Capitol is a history-making event bringing together individuals who are affected by obesity to Walk and raise awareness and National attention of obesity and its health and quality of life impact in/on our society.

Why: Raising Awareness of Obesity, its Consequences and Treatments

Transportation: Local attendees driving to the event, may utilize the below directions or for those taking the Metro, please get off at the Smithsonian stop.

*Note: Attendees, guests of attendees and exhibitors of the ASMBS Annual Meeting will be provided chartered bus transportation to the National Mall from the Gaylord National.

Directions:

  • Interstate 395 provides access to the Mall from the south.
  • Interstate 495, New York Avenue, Rock Creek Parkway, George Washington Memorial Parkway, and the Cabin John Parkway provide access from the North.
  • Interstate 66, U.S. Route 50 and 29 provide access from the West.
  • U.S. Routes 50, 1 and 4 provide access from the East.

Parking: Free parking is available around the National Mall between Madison and Jefferson. Free lots are also located within a few blocks of the Walk site. If taking the Metro, get off at the Smithsonian stop.

General visitor parking is also available along Ohio Drive between the Lincoln and Jefferson Memorials. Bus parking is primarily available along Ohio Drive near the Lincoln and Jefferson Memorials.
