There are few times in history that individuals can join together and express their concerns, desires and needs for a cause. For the first time ever in the obesity community, our day has come.
On June 17, 2008, the obesity community will make history as we partake in the Walk from Obesity – Walk on the Capitol to be held in Washington, DC. The National Mall in DC, a place where history is made each and every day, will set as the backdrop for one of the most history-making events ever to take place for those affected by the disease of obesity.
This history-making event will bring together individuals who are affected by obesity to walk and raise awareness and National attention of obesity and its health and quality of life impact in/on our society.

Where: National Mall, Washington, DC – The Walk will take place between 4th and 7th streets on the National Mall located between the Washington Monument and the U.S. Capitol.

Why: Raising Awareness of Obesity, its Consequences and Treatments
As the OAC has discussed many times, advocacy is one of the most powerful tools, when used correctly, in accessing safe and effective treatment options. This event will be monumental in displaying the need for access to obesity management services. For far too long, the healthcare community, government and insurance providers have not heard our needs. On Tuesday, June 17, we will have the greatest opportunity of our time to demonstrate our needs as a community.
