Washington, DC

The Walk on the Capitol will be the nation's largest collective gathering of those affected by obesity in history. As this will be a historic event, it is important that we take advantage of this opportunity to advocate.

We can impact how others view obesity and impact decision makers. We can eliminate the negative stigma associated with this disease, and make sure that obesity is treated as a disease, allowing for increased access to safe and effective medical treatment.

As an American, it is your right to build a relationship with your elected officials and to advocate for positive change. It is through the voice of patients, family members and medical professionals that legislators learn how current, pending and future laws impact Americans.

The Obesity Action Coalition (OAC) provides excellent resources to help you get started in your advocacy efforts.
